The Brookville Historical Society was founded to preserve the Spitler House,
Brookville history and artifacts and promote family history research. The
society’s main function is discovering and collecting materials that establish
or illustrate the history and heritage of our community. The society preserves
its collections and allows access, where feasible, for those who wish to
examine or study the holdings. |

The Samuel Spitler House
at 14 Market Street is now a community museum which is open for tours on
the 1st Sunday of each month from 1 to 5 P.M except on holidays and
during inclement weather. Tours are $2.00 per adult and $.50 for
children 6-16. Special group tours can be arranged any day of the week
with advance notice for a $25.00 minimum fee. |

The Exhibit Building
on the corner of Hay Avenue and Wolf Creek Pike was acquired in 2008 and
is a work in progress. The building will be open for tours after August
2009 on the 1st Sunday of each month from 1 to 5 P.M. except on holidays
and during inclement weather. Self-guided tours are $2.00 per adult and
$.50 for children 6-16. Special group tours can be arranged any
day of the week with advance notice for a $25.00 minimum fee. The Exhibit Building will feature local
Brookville items including military, agricultural, businesses, churches,
organizations, and school items. |

The Genealogy Research Library
is a private library housed at 21 Market Street in a former home of
Brookville School Teacher, Blanche Clark. Appointments for Library
Research must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Research hours
are between 2:00 and 5 P.M. except on the 1st Saturday and Sunday of
each month. The Library is closed on holidays and during inclement
weather. $2.00 per adult non-member per visit donation is requested.
Research by mail is available for a donation of $30.00 which includes 2
hours of work. Additional research time is $15.00 per hour.

The Brookville Railroad Depot
and caboose at Hay and Cusick Avenues on the bike trail is open on the
1st Sunday of June, July and August from 1 to 4 P.M. except on holidays
and during adverse weather. Tours are $2.00 per adult and $.50 for
children 6-16. Special group tours can be arranged any day of the week
with advance notice for a $25.00 minimum fee. |
